2019 Charleston Forum

The Charleston forum is a community project that strives to provide a dialogue that moves the conversation forward, with no pre-set agenda but with a common purpose.

- Event Details

Born out of honor for the victims of the 2015 Mother Emanuel AME Church shooting, The Charleston Forum is an open and honest discussion on race and the ways in which our community can move forward together.

The 2019 Forum event will occur on Sunday, June 16, 2019. We will be hosting two events on this day – the Forum Expo and the 3rd Annual Charleston Forum.

The Forum Expo is an opportunity to tell the public your story and encourage those who share your passion to help fulfill your mission. Local non-profits with similar missions to the Forum will be provided free space. Local vendors and businesses are invited to also participate in the event as a sponsor, which will include display space, tables, and chairs.

The Charleston Forum addresses sensitive issues of everyday life in a welcoming environment. The Forum encourages community members to share their perspectives and to serve as an open and respectful audience for others. This honest exchange among leaders from different backgrounds and among interested citizens is essential for significant progress. The Forum will never have all the answers, and it cannot create changes without others advancing the ball. The Forum will provide a platform for constructive ideas and an audience willing to be engaged. The Forum will advance our collective march to solutions in honor of the nine precious lives that racial division took from us on June 17, 2015.
